LGBT Therapy
With Jordan Ortiz, LMFT
I’m not from Texas, and I’m not religious. I don’t come into the therapy room with an idea of what makes a relationship good or what you should want from your life.
Are family expectations affecting how you see yourself?
Are you sorting through old beliefs about your sexuality, identity, or relationships?
Do you get pressured to hide who you really are?
Some clients carry negative beliefs about their sexuality from family, community, religion, or society. Others fear being judged or treated unfairly. Maybe you’re trying to understand your mixed feelings about being seen as straight.
You tell me what’s important. I help you figure out how to navigate the world without abandoning yourself.
Clients Come To Me When They:
Doubt their self-worth
Are building their identity
Clash with family dynamics
Confront religious beliefs
Experience pressure in relationships
Question sexual identity
Fear being judged
Struggle in queer relationships
LGBTQ Therapy With Me
I’m direct with clients. We won’t spend our time trying to make you fit someone else’s expectations of who you should be.
We’ll look at how you show up in the world, what’s working, and what isn’t. We’ll examine the stories you learned about yourself, how your past is affecting the present, and how you want your future to look.
We’ll also work with boundaries. That means figuring out what you can do on your side to build healthier relationships, make choices that reflect who you are, and protect the parts of yourself you no longer want to abandon.
The Approaches We’ll Use
-
Helps you understand patterns in closeness, connection, and relationships so you make choices with greater awareness.
-
Looks at how you show up with other people and which relationship patterns are helping or getting in the way.
-
Examines the stories you tell about yourself so you better understand which beliefs came from you and which came from family, community, or society.
-
Connects present-day struggles with your life experiences so you understand yourself in context and process what happened.
-
Helps you understand what boundaries you need and how to protect important relationships without abandoning yourself.
-
Looks at how the past continues to affect the present, including beliefs, relationships, and patterns.
You Don’t Have To Abandon Yourself To Belong
Understand what you want, what matters to you, and how to move through relationships and the world without losing yourself.
After LGBTQ Therapy With Me, Clients Report:
Increased self-worth
Confidence in sexual identity
Greater self-understanding
Making clearer decisions
Stronger boundaries
Extra resilience
More connection and joy
The goal is greater clarity about who you are, why you’re making your choices, and what you want to move toward.
“You tell me what’s important. I help you figure out how to move through the world without abandoning yourself.”
About Jordan Ortiz
Hi, I’m Jordan Ortiz, LMFT.
My work is grounded in the belief that everyone is doing the best that they can and can do better. People make sense in context, and meaningful change happens when we understand not just what is happening, but why.
My approach is direct, relational, and collaborative. We’ll look at your history, relationships, identity, and the beliefs that have shaped how you see yourself. I won’t come into the room with a preset idea of what your life or relationships should look like.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in commercial construction project management and helped grow a company from 3 to 60 employees. I’ve always been an observer and a listener, with a dry sense of humor and a tendency to notice what people are trying to say to each other.
I’m married, live in Dallas, and have a cat named Mojo Jojo and a dog named Steve. Outside of therapy, you can find me poolside with a podcast, hosting Survivor watch nights, trying new restaurants, cooking with my husband, or deep-diving into my latest obsession on Reddit.
Availability: I provide in-person therapy in Dallas, Texas, and virtual therapy via telehealth for clients throughout Texas.
